Activity 1: The 3-minute breathing space

Step 1: 
Learners find their own space in the room and close their eyes. The first minute is spent answering the question, ‘How am I doing right now?’ This is done in silence.

Learners should focus on the feelings, thoughts and sensations that arise. They should try to name these feelings and sensations (e.g. very angry, confused, happy).


Step 2:
The second minute is spent keeping awareness of the breath.

Step 3:

The last minute is used to expand learners’ attention outward from the breath, feeling the ways in which one’s breathing affects the rest of one’s body.
