Fixlocal has a new home with Jozi My Jozi

Community , Empowerment

We are pleased to share that Fixlocal is moving from Heartlines (the Centre for Values Promotion) to become housed as a project of Jozi My Jozi.

Jozi My Jozi – a well-known and loved South African programme – is planning to expand nationally soon and provides a perfect home for Fixlocal.

Fixlocal’s objectives are fully aligned as Jozi My Jozi’s goals, purpose and mission are:

  • To inspire the people of Jozi, Mzansi and around the world to help bring hope and instil pride back into our city.
  • To connect and empower those committed to sustainable solutions for Johannesburg’s inner city.
  • To make a difference by uniting people to create positive change.
  • To strengthen communities, promote growth, and empower citizens to build a safer, more vibrant Johannesburg, through collaboration and innovation.

Fixlocal remains totally committed to promoting accountable and transparent local government by enhancing informed citizen action and campaigns to fix local service delivery issues, with collaboration between citizens, elected councillors and public servants, or by holding them to account when service delivery is failing.

It provides a 360 degree digital service, consisting of an app, a website and a WhatsApp platform. It also has a monthly newsletter full of information on what’s new in local government and other useful content.

We are so proud of all Fixlocal has done and look forward to seeing it continue growing as a valuable and valued resource for South Africa.

Garth is a medical doctor. After having been part of the founding team behind the health promotion and social change project Soul City, in 2002, Garth decided to use the successful recipe of edutainment for change to turn the spotlight onto the universal values that all South Africans profess to share, but are not always evident in the lives they live. That was the beginning of the Mass Media Project, now known as Heartlines. Garth is the CEO and chief ideas man behind the work that we do.
