Fathers Matter ECD Evaluation

The Heartlines Fathers Matter Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme addresses the persistent challenge of low father and male caregiver involvement in children’s early development, a gap observed globally and in South Africa. Fathers play a vital role in shaping children’s educational and emotional well-being, yet their participation in ECD activities remains limited due to societal norms, logistical barriers, and a lack of knowledge and awareness.

This programme provides tools and resources to encourage fathers’ or male caregivers’ active involvement in activities that support children’s development and learning.

This study evaluated the actual outcomes of the programme against its anticipated outcomes when it was developed.
