A systematic review of behaviour change interventions to improve maternal health outcomes in sub-Saharan Africa
The systematic review examines 52 behaviour change interventions aimed at improving maternal health outcomes in sub-Saharan Africa, highlighting the predominant use of education, persuasion, and training strategies targeting pregnant women, mothers, and healthcare providers. The review reveals that 77% of the interventions were effective, emphasising the significant role of tailored educational and training approaches. It also identifies a gap in targeting healthcare providers, suggesting a need for more comprehensive strategies to enhance service delivery. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners, guiding effective intervention design to reduce maternal mortality in the region.
