Press Release 24 August 2009
Since 2006 HEARTLINES has produced resources to help people discuss and teach values and implement values-based community activities. These resources, which are available in different languages, have already been used by thousands of people countrywide, including parents, teachers, youth workers and faith based organisation (FBO) leaders.
Now HEARTLINES will use these materials in coordinated area-specific training, when we come to town – literally.
Over the next year HEARTLINES will run 10 HEARTLINES COMES TO TOWN visits, where over 3-4 days we will run coordinated training interventions in a town or region, including:
- training municipal managers in values based leadership and transformation
- training FBO leaders, youth leaders and school educators in using HEARTLINES materials
- nightly viewing of HEARTLINES films for the community, followed by a values-focused conversation
- recruitment for HEARTLINES mentors programme and forgood movement
The very first of these HEARTLINES COMES TO TOWN events is taking place in Emakhazeni, Mpumalanga, where HEARTLINES together with the Emakhazeni Local Municipality is hosting a number of activities for the citizens of Emakhazeni to discuss, debate and live good values.
HEARTLINES will be in Emakhazeni from 26 to 29 August 2009, where we will:
- Host public viewings of HEARTLINES’ latest film HOPEVILLE, followed by values conversations, in each of the 4 towns in Emakhazeni (Belfast, Dullstroom, Machadodorp and Waterval Boven).
