Heartlines hands out books to literacy group

Heartlines was recently contacted by a journalist from Caxton Press who had written up a story about a group of “gogos” who were doing literacy training at the Chiawelo Council offices in Chiawelo, Soweto. He said that they were really lacking in books, and wondered if Heartlines could help.

This request resulted in Heartlines donating 40 books to the group. The group of about 50 women meets Monday to Wednesday mornings and are taught by two teachers. A charity organization, the House of Tanwee, provides food. The project is overseen by Counsellor Ramafola.

The class was very happy to receive the books, especially since they are available in TshiVenda and XiTsonga.
